Serena Ding

Principal and Founder

As a founding director of Riverson Lawyers, Serena Ding is passionate about our clients and our people. She firmly believes that delivering to their expectations and building long-term relationships are the critical success factors of the business.

Serena’s relentless pursuit of excellence, meticulous attention to detail and the desire to lead by example, drive the team towards its goal – to provide expert legal advice as trusted partners to our clients.

Combined with this is Serena’s insightful cultural intelligence. She uses this skill to manage her Australian and Chinese clients to ensure they work dynamically together and assists them to comprehend the Australian Law.

She uses her perfectionism to provide accurate, reliable and effective advice to help our clients achieve their outcomes.

Serena is passionate about providing client satisfaction and making a real difference. That is why she is proud that Riverson Lawyers was recognised as the Best Property Law Firm in Victoria and presented with the APAC Insider Excellence Award in 2017.

Serena holds a Bachelor of Laws, Bachelor of Commerce, Master of Laws (Legal Practice) and a Graduate Diploma Legal Practice. She is a member of the Legal Institute of Victoria.

 


Yan Kok

Solicitor

Yan Kok is a solicitor with a broad range of experience and expertise in the areas of commercial law, property law, construction law, wills and family law.

Yan is passionate about helping clients achieve the best results by providing meticulous legal advice and enjoys offering a range of options to ensure that the client achieves their ideal outcome. She cuts through the legal jargon and gets straight to the heart of the matter while building a genuine rapport and understanding of her clients.

Yan is known for her positive and resourceful attitude, strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills. These abilities have enabled Yan to guide clients through intricate business transactions, construction contracts, estate planning and family separation with empathy and accuracy. She has fostered strong relationships with clients and developed a client base comprising of clients from all walks of life.

Yan is Australian born to first generation migrants, which makes her uniquely qualified to understand the cultural needs of clients from diverse backgrounds in an Australian context. Yan is fluent in Mandarin and Cantonese having studied Chinese to the highest level during her undergraduate studies. This combined with her Law studies has given her strong skills in interpreting and explaining detailed legal documents and principles to Chinese clients.

Yan holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.), Bachelor of Arts (BA), Bachelor of Arts Honours (BA(Hons)), and a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice (GDLP). She is currently studying a Master of Legal Practice and is a member of the Asian Australian Lawyers Association.

 


Cherien Chan

Paralegal

Cherien Chan has over ten years’ experience in providing legal advice, support and expertise to corporate, commercial and property law clients. Cherien is passionate about solving problems for our clients with complex property or business conveyancing issues; family law or construction law matters.

Cherien is known for her strong work ethic, efficiency, meticulous attention to detail and excellent interpersonal skills. These abilities provided the foundation for successfully settling a client’s civil proceedings out of Court as well as fostering partnerships with future clients.

Cherien’s experience as an advocate and solicitor in Malaysia included successfully leading legal teams to conduct due diligence and ensure legal compliance on complicated business acquisitions. She was also involved in the end-to-end resolution of litigious disputes ranging from debt recovery, construction and commercial disputes. This gave her skills in drafting pleadings, facilitating settlement negotiations, liaising with clients and appearing in Court.

As a paralegal, Cherien brings her previous legal experience to assist the Principal Lawyer with complex property conveyancing, business conveyancing, leases, family law, intellectual property law, trademark and general agreements.

Cherien holds an Honours Bachelor of Laws Degree (LL.B.) and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) and is passionate about bringing her strong business experience with her legal knowledge to her individual and corporate clients.

 


Jessie Zeng

Legal Assistant

Jessie Zeng has nearly six years’ experience in providing conveyancing expertise and advice from start to finish for sale or purchase files for properties.

Jessie is passionate about intricate conveyancing matters, including real estate development projects. That’s why her specialty is getting involved in the details to solve problems for our clients and dealing with the high volume of settlements. She enjoys assisting clients with all aspects of conveyancing. This includes first home buyer, off-the-plan, selling and purchasing new and second-hand dwellings, and new project’s conveyancing for developers.

Jessie is known for her calm nature, strong problem-solving skills and excellent customer service. These abilities have been essential in giving our clients confidence and peace of mind by helping them clearly comprehend the conveyancing process.

Jessie is focused on advancing her skills through continuous professional development training so she can deliver the best outcomes for our clients. That’s why she is proficient at undertaking conveyancing work throughout Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland and South Australia.

She also speaks fluent English, Mandarin and Cantonese.

Jessie holds an Advanced Diploma of Conveyancing, a Master of International Business and a Bachelor Degree in Human Resource Management and Business Management. She is a member of the Australian Institute of Conveyancers.

 


Michelle Wang

Trust Accountant & Office Administrator

Michelle Wang is a Trust Accountant and Office Administrator with experience in managing solicitor trust accounts, conveyancing work and general legal administrative work.
Michelle is known for her honest and direct approach as an effective communicator and is fluent in both English and Chinese.

Michelle values being responsible, reliable and working effectively in a team, which is why she is passionate about incorporating her accounting skills and knowledge in combination with working with legal professionals.

Michelle is focused on using her skills and experience to provide timely and accurate trust account information to assist our clients in achieving their outcomes. What’s more, as one of the first Riverson Lawyers staff, she is a highly committed member of the team.

Michelle holds a Master of Professional Accounting, Master of Commerce, a NAATI Certified Provisional Interpreter (Mandarin and English) and is a Certified Translator (English into Chinese) and member of CPA Australia.
